Ananich: Society needs honest and responsible journalism

MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – The public needs honest and responsible journalism more than ever today, First Deputy Information Minister of Belarus, head of the organizing committee of the Belarusian international media forum Lilia Ananich told reporters on 10 June, BelTA has learnt.

“Honest, truthful and responsible journalism is needed more than ever today. We need journalism that does something good, helps the global community address the most complicated tasks,” Lilia Ananich said.

She expressed views that Belarusian mass media should set an example of patriotic journalism. “We carefully nurture our Belarusian state, therefore we see how hard it is to create something in the world,” she noted.

Speaking about the 9th edition of the Belarusian international media forum “Partnership for the Future: the Global World Realities” Lilia Ananich noted that events of such a scale help mass media representatives to forge new ties and contribute to better understanding between countries and peoples. She drew attention to the fact that this year the forum brought together delegates from 26 states, among whom are public figures and statesmen, political analysts, experts, media personalities. The interest in the event was shown by accredited diplomatic missions. “The voice of the media forum will be conveyed by newswires of many countries worldwide,” she said.

9th edition of the Belarusian international media forumThe Belarusian international medial forum is a traditional discussion platform for exchanging opinions and working out new ideas and concepts by representatives of the expert and media community of the CIS and non-CIS countries. This year the participants of the forum will discuss the following topics “Movement towards sovereignty and integration. The Eurasian Economic Union as a platform to establish a new world”, “Global communication in the context of the multi-polar world”, “Challenges and threats of the 21st century. Role of the international community in preventing conflicts and wars”.

The forum is organized by the Information Ministry of Belarus, the Union State Permanent Committee, the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, and the Belarusian Union of Journalists.
