Ambassador: Minsk book fair will contribute to cultural relations between Belarus and UK

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The Minsk International Book Fair will contribute to the cultural ties between Belarus and the United Kingdom, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Belarus Fionna Gibb said at the fair on 8 February, BelTA has learned.

The United Kingdom is the Guest of Honor at this year’s edition of the Minsk International Book Fair. The Embassy has invited many guests to attend the large-scale event: writers, publishers, journalists, teachers and public figures. “It is a great honor for me that the United Kingdom is the Guest of Honor of the Minsk book fair. Our goal is to promote the English language and British education, and facilitate the establishment of ties between Belarusian and British publishers. Besides, the book fair will contribute to the cultural ties between our countries,” Ambassador Fionna Gibb said.

She noted that the Embassy will hold workshops, roundtable discussions, meetings, lectures, presentations and contests as part of the forum, so there will be something for everyone's tastes.
