White Castle medieval festival to be held 17-19 August

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – The 14th International medieval festival White Castle will be held in the Knight's Castle historical-cultural center in the village of Ostroshitsky Gorodok on 17-19 August, BelTA learnt from the organizers.

The White Castle is the oldest and most famous festival in Belarus, which has been held regularly since 1998. According to the organizers, the festival is distinguished by a unique atmosphere, good music and competitions between medieval clubs that reconstruct events from various eras.

For over 14 years, representatives of different cities and countries meet up in Belarus. The festival has welcomed friends and colleagues from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania. So will be this time.

The audience and participants of the three-day festivity will take a dive into the atmosphere of the most romantic period in the history of humankind. The program of the festival will embrace knights’ tournaments, a medieval fashion show, archery competitions, a contest of staged fights, buhurts (full-contact medieval fights), and concerts of minstrels and troubadours.

The concert part of the festival will be divided into rock and medieval blocks. Among the performers will be the Belarusian band Allion, Piotr Yelfimov’s new romantic rock project and a fantasy folk group Irdorath.

According to the organizers, the White Castle medieval festival is the biggest event that unites hsitoricla clubs from the CIS and non-CIS countries. Since 2010 the festival has been held twice a year – in March and August.
