Vitebsk 2014 Grand Prix goes to Mexico

Rodrigo de la Cadena of MexicoVITEBSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Rodrigo de la Cadena of Mexico has won the Grand Prix of the international song contest Vitebsk 2014, BelTA has learnt.

A diploma and the prize money of $20,000 were solemnly presented to the Mexican singer during the award ceremony at the Vitebsk Oblast Philharmonic Hall on 14 July. Rodrigo de la Cadena will also get the special prize Lira at the closing concert of the International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk later that night.

Vitalie Negruta from MoldovaThe first prize went to Vitalie Negruta from Moldova. He got $15,000 in prize money, the special prize Lira and the diploma.

Ukraine’s Veronika DoroshThe second prize and $10,000 were presented to Ukraine’s Veronika Dorosh and Croatia’s Dino. By the way, Dino won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. They also got the special prize Lira and the diplomas.

Croatia’s DinoThe third prize and $5,000 was shared by Diana Golbi from Israel and Markhaba Sabiyeva from Kazakhstan. They also got the special prize Lira and the diplomas.

The Vladimir Mulyavin prize for the exceptional performance and best conveyance of the national theme was given to Emils Balceris from Latvia.

The special prizes of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly were presented to Belarus’ Artur Mikhailov and Russia’s Zlat.

The special prize of the Russian press was bestowed upon Markhaba Sabiyeva from Kazakhstan.

The special prize of the interstate television and radio company Mir was given to Zlat. The prize went with the prize money of $2,000.

Finalists of the international song contest Vitebsk 2014This year the format of the contest has changed. It now includes a semifinal and two final performances. Honored Figure of Arts of Russia Kim Breitburg is the chairman of the jury.
