Representatives from about 40 countries register for Minsk Half Marathon

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) - Representatives from about 40 countries have already registered for the Minsk Half Marathon, Vadim Devyatovsky, Chairman of the Belarusian Athletics Federation, told the media in Minks on 6 July, BelTA has learned.

“Registration is a bit slower than last year because of the pandemic. But we hope to get as many participants as we originally indicated,” Vadim Devyatovsky said. “Representatives of about 40 countries have already confirmed their participation. We have made 42,000 medals of Minsk Half Marathon participant. We are looking forward to the event, and hopefully we will all run together,” Vadim Devyatovsky noted. He also assured that this year the half marathon route will more memorable than ever. 

Races of 5.5km, 10.5km and 21.097km will take place on 13 September. Applications  are open on the website of the Minsk Half Marathon until 12 September or until the maximum number of participants is reached

The motto of the Minsk Half Marathon 2020 is Let’s Run Together! It is planned that 42,000 people will take part in the races this year.

In 2019 the Minsk Half Marathon was held for the fifth time. Nina Savina of Belarus won the 21.1km race of the Minsk Half Marathon 2019. The men's event champion title went to by Eritrea's Afewerki Berhane (1.04.09). The Minsk Half Marathon was assigned the IAAF Silver Label in 2019. The prize pot is $60,000.
