Polotsk to host Three Sophias art exhibition in September

Polotsk to host Three Sophias art exhibition in SeptemberMINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The art exhibition Three Sophias: St. Sophia of Kiev, St. Sophia of Novgorod, and St. Sophia of Polotsk under the aegis of the international humanitarian project Minsk Initiative will open in Polotsk in September, BelTA learned from the CIS International Fund of Humanitarian Cooperation.

The exhibition will feature the result of joint plein air painting workshops for young artists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. It will be timed to the 1155th anniversary of Polotsk and the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing.

As part of the Minsk Initiative project plans have been made to hold meetings of writers and translators, creative and scientific intellectuals of the three countries in 2017-2018. There will be a seminar featuring the development of professional partnership of journalists covering humanitarian issues in Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian mass media. Plans have been made to implement multimedia projects Museum of the World, and Theater. Our Legacy.

Another dimension of the Minsk Initiative is the international project to stage puppet performances for children with special development needs. This issue will be in the spotlight at the meeting of directors, playwrights, composers, artists of puppet theaters, doctors, and psychologists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. The meeting will take place at the Moscow Puppet Theater on 19-20 June. This Belarusian-Russian-Ukrainian seminar will be attended by Mikhail Shvydkoy, special representative of the Russian president for cultural cooperation, Boris Goldovsky, art director of the Moscow Puppet Theater, Mikhail Uritsky, director of the Kiev Academic Puppet Theater, Alexander Yanushkevich, director of the Brest Puppet Theater. They will discuss joint theater productions for children with special development needs.
