Minsk International Book Fair to open 11 February

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – The 22nd Minsk International Book Fair will take place on 11-15 February, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.

The forum is expected to bring together book publishers and traders from 27 countries. China will be the Guest of Honor at the book fair; Russia will have the central place in the program of the event. Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Iran will have the biggest expositions. The host of the forum will also have a big and diverse exposition.

The book fair will include many interesting events. Minsk will host the international symposium of litterateurs Writers and Time for the first time. Writers from 15 countries have confirmed their participation in the forum. The book fair will give an opportunity to famous and new authors to discuss topical issues.

Youth issues will be top on the agenda of the Belarusian forum as the 22nd Minsk International Book Fair is held in the Year of Youth. Winners of the young writers’ contest The First Chapter will be honored at the forum. The organizers of the book fair will also award winners of the international contest of patriotic posters which is timed to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. Visitors of the book fair will see the best posters from various countries of the CIS.

The best publications of the year 2014 will be also awarded as part of the national book publishing contest. The 22nd Minsk International Book Fair will be the springboard for the National Literature Award. The results of this award will be announced in the Belarusian Written Language Day.

The 22nd Minsk International Book Fair will be held in the national exhibition center BelExpo at 14 Pobeditelei Avenue. The forum is organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry, OAO Belkniga, and PK OOO Makbel.
