MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) - Masterpieces of Chinese traditional weaving and embroidery arts of the 19th -21st centuries and the costumes of numerous Chinese nationalities will be on display at the Belarus National Art Museum. The exposition called Silk will be running in Minsk from 14 to 24 October, BelTA learned from the National Art Museum of Belarus.

The exhibition has been organized by the Museum of Chinese Women and Children with the support of the Culture Ministry of the People's Republic of China. Its opening is timed to the Days of Culture of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus.

Magnificent Silk is not just a collection of Chinese weaving masterpieces but is the bright and amazing history of costume, the love for which united all the residents of the Celestial Empire: from the emperor to ordinary people. The culture of Chinese silk consume is still developing. In stores you can find thousands of styles in different colors. Nevertheless, they have one thing in common: the ancient traditions.

The culture of silk in China dates back to the period of the Zhou Dynasty (11th century - 3rd century BC). For a long time the technology of manufacturing silk threads remained a carefully guarded secret. However, even in our time, when making silk is no longer a secret, China keeps this tradition in its original form.
