Mass Media in Belarus expo to open in Minsk on 5 May

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Minsk will host the international expo Mass Media in Belarus: Words for Peace that will mark the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War from 5 till 7 May, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.

Over the years, the professional expo Mass Media in Belarus has become an integral part of the life of the media in Belarus. It has also acquired the status of the international electronic and print media forum. Traditionally the expo features Belarusian mass media and media outlets of the Russian Federation, the CIS member states, the Belarus-Russia Union State, China, Venezuela, Cuba and other countries.

The program of the expo Mass Media in Belarus features roundtables, seminars and workshops by leading Belarusian and Russian journalists and media experts, media dialogues on the role of mass media in the coverage of inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations, their role in strengthening the national identity of Belarusian people, and the trends of photojournalism.

The award ceremony of the winners of the 11th national print media competition Zolotaya Litera (golden letter) will be held on 5 May. The winners of the first national competition Photo of Belarus will be awarded their prizes on 6 May.

Partaking in the expo will be print and audio-visual media, news agencies, media structures, Internet services providers, distributors of printed materials and promotional organizations, printing and publishing houses.

This year the exhibition is held in conjunction with the National Exhibition Center BelExpo at the President Property Management Directorate at the BelExpo center (27 Yanka Kupala Street). Exhibitors will present new types of content, broadcasting through new channels of information transmission, stylistic peculiarities of online journalism and other aspects. The most important thing is to satisfy the needs of the society in diverse, high-quality and relevant information through all available communication channels. The exhibition will showcase the most advanced forms of work of traditional media, the latest achievements of Belarusian and foreign media in the field of content production, the latest information and communication technologies and will draw the attention of visitors to innovations and best samples of work in mass media.

The expo has been organized by the Information Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, the National Exhibition Center BelExpo with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minsk City Hall, the National State TV and Radio Company, the Belarusian Union of Journalists, the Union of Press Publishers and Distributors, the Telecommunication Industry Union, and the House of the Press.
