MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – This year the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad will be held under the slogan Getting to Know the Big, Wide World and will be dedicated to famous director Kira Muratova, BelTA learned from the organizers.

This slogan refers to Kira Muratova’s movie Getting to Know the Big, Wide World. This movie sets the standard Listapad wants to keep up with while selecting entries for the festival program. Kira Muratova’s movies, like Passions, Chekhov’s Motifs, The Tuner, and Melody For A Street Organ, have been going hand in hand with the festival over its 25 years of history. In recent years, Kira Muratova has rejected invitations for many festivals, however Listapad is a lucky exception. It was at the festival where she presented her movie Eternal Redemption in 2013.

“Getting to Know the Big, Wide World is one of those Soviet-era movies that never lose their relevance. Quite the opposite, they become more powerful year after year. Kira Muratova’s movies are synonymous to novation, relevance and ageless themes. We feel great reverence for Kira Muratova and we are thrilled by her attitude to us. At the same time, we invite the audience “to get to know the big, wide world” literally, because a movie is more than just an exciting story. Immersing in absolutely different backgrounds, cultures and storylines we discover the world and our own selves,” program director of the festival Igor Sukmanov said.

The Minsk International Film Festival Listapad will be held in the Belarusian capital on 2-9 November. Listapad has been accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) as a film festival of the Baltic countries, Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe.

The festival will be based around several venues, including the Central Movie Theater, Mir Movie Theater, Pioneer Movie Theater, Moscow Movie Theater, Belarus Movie Theater, Falcon Club Cinema Boutique and the Belarusian Cinema History Museum.

The founders of the festival are the Culture Ministry of Belarus and the Minsk City Hall. The festival is organized by the ART Corporation center of visual and performing arts. The general partner is Shchodraya Mastercard. Official partners include Kinovideoprokat of the Minsk City Hall, Falcon Club Cinema Boutique, Belavia national air carrier and Beltelecom. ByCard will be an official ticket operator. The festival is supported by the Belarusian TV and Radio Company, the National Film Studio Belarusfilm and the Forte advertising agency.
