Grodno Oblast registers rise in number of tourists from Russia, Poland, Lithuania

GRODNO, 5 July (BelTA) - The number of tourist visits to Grodno Oblast from Russia, Poland and Lithuania has been increasing, head of the sports and tourism department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Oleg Andreichik told BelTA.

In the year to May 2016 the biggest number of tourists was from Russia (78% of the total). Second was Poland, with Lithuania being third.

In 2016 Grodno Oblast was visited by tourists from 52 countries. Overseas visits to Grodno Oblast also included travelers from Italy, Germany and Turkmenistan. The majority of visitors (70%) were interested in health resort services.

In January-April 2016 the export of tourist services in Grodno Oblast totaled $1.3 million ($1.9 million in January-May, according to operational data). It is 123% to the same period last year.
