Gomel to host world circus art festival in September

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – Plans have been made to hold the world circus art festival Idol for the first time ever in Gomel in September 2018. The festival was initiated by People’s Artist of Russia, Director of the Great Moscow Circus Edgard Zapashny, BelTA has learned.

The festival will take place in the Gomel State Circus. The festival is expected to attract artists from all over the world. The best circus acts will be demonstrated in Belarus.

According to Edgard Zapashny, such a project will give talented Belarusians an opportunity to demonstrate their skills alongside world class artists. It will also contribute to stronger international cooperation and will give a boost to the development of tourism in the region.

Circus art experts and guests from Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Mexico, China, Canada, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan have been invited to take part in the festival. Their participation will give an opportunity to demonstrate achievements of Belarusian and Russian culture at the international level. It will create a platform for intercultural exchange.

Belarusian Culture Minister Yuri Bondar has backed the project. He remarked that the circus art festival will help unite creative forces, will help form universal cultural space and promote Belarus’ image as an organizing country in the international scene.

The world circus art festival Idol has been held in the Great Moscow Circus every year since 2013. Within the short period of time the festival has managed to won recognition of international circus art experts.
