Five-day countdown for visa-free stay in Belarus starts with passport stamp date

MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – The five-day countdown for staying in Belarus without a visa begins when the traveler crosses the border and the border service officer stamps the passport, BelTA learned from a twitter message by the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“If your aircraft lands in Minsk at about midnight, wait a bit and go through the border control procedures after midnight,” the message reads. The five-day countdown will begin the moment the new day starts.

BelTA reported earlier that new procedures came into force on 12 February 2017 to allow citizens of 80 countries to stay in Belarus without visas for five days, provided they enter the country via the Minsk National Airport.
