BREST, 30 January (BelTA) – The race along the external borders of the CIS celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War will start at the Brest Hero Fortress memorial on 2 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Dzerzhinsky Brest border group of the Order of the Red Banner.

The large-scale patriotic event has been organized following the decision of the CIS Council of Border Troops Commanders. The race will kick off at the sculptural composition “To Glorious Border Defenders, Women and Children, Whose Courage Made Them Immortal”. The solemn event will be attended by heads and representatives of the state border services of the CIS countries, servicemen, veterans, young people, and the clergy.

During the Victory Race, its participants will take part in a number of patriotic events such as memorial ceremonies, wreath-laying ceremonies, and concerts.

Two days after the race starts, Brest border guards will pass the baton to the Pinsk border detachment. The race will be continued by the Mozyr, Lida, and Polotsk border detachments, the Gomel, Grodno, and Smorgon border groups and the Minsk border control unit.
