BelTA photo journalist shortlisted for AIPS Sport Media Awards

BelTA photo journalist shortlisted for AIPS Sport Media Awards
Dangerous Game by Dzianis Kastsiuchenka

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – BelTA freelance photo journalist Dzianis Kastsiuchenka and his work Dangerous Game made up the Photography Sport Action Shortlist of AIPS Sport Media Awards 2020, BelTA has learned.

The nominee did not hide his positive emotions when he received the news from Lausanne, Switzerland, where the headquarters of the professional body representing international sports media is located.

“Certainly this is an important event in my career. Clearly, it is too early to celebrate success. We will know the winners of the competition later. Nevertheless, there is reason to be proud. It does not happen often that Belarusian sport photographers become contenders for awards in such prestigious professional competitions. The work that made the short list was shot at the match of the Belarusian football championship. Many different factors coincided. It is much easier to make a photograph for an international contest at a top-level competition with top stars and all necessary conditions for photojournalists. I am really happy to see it on the short list of AIPS Sport Media Awards,” said Dzianis Kastsiuchenka.

The AIPS Sport Media Awards are the highest international accolade in the sport media industry. The Awards, currently in their third edition, offer recognition to the very best sport storytellers across all media platforms, from photography to video, from print to digital, from podcasts to sports blogs. This year's awards will be presented in eight adult and three junior categories. In 2020, a total of 1,871 specialists from 129 countries applied their works. Winners in the adult categories will receive a cash prize of $8,000 for the first place, $3,000 for the second place and $2,000 for the third place.
