Belarus sculptor Andrei Ostashov’s expo opens in St Petersburg

Exhibition of Belarusian sculptor Andrei OstashovMOSCOW, 8 August (BelTA) – The Russian museum has presented an exhibition of Belarusian sculptor Andrei Ostashov at Saint Michael’s Castle in St Petersburg. The exposition features over 70 works of the master, BelTA learnt from the museum.

The exhibition focuses on a retrospective principle: the demonstration of the main artworks created by the sculptor over the past two decades. At the same time the organizers of the expo intended to show the variety of subjects and, playing with contrast, insert modern sculpture in the historical interior of Saint Michael’s Castle.

The main feature of Andrei Ostashov’s creativity is the combination of myths of different countries in his graphic and sculptural works. His sculptures demonstrate traditional art of the peoples of the Far East, tropical Africa and Oceania, the echoes of European legends, ancient myths and iconographic scenes.

Andrei Ostashov, a graduate of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, has been taking part in national and international exhibitions since 1995. The artist’s works are displayed in the National Art Museum of Belarus, the Art Museum of Malaga, Spain, and kept in the private collections of Great Britain, Germany, the United States and other countries.
