Knight Fest. Mstislavl 2017

Knight Fest. Mstislavl 2017
5 Aug 2017

In the first August weekend Mstislavl welcomed its guests to an event inspired by the Middle Ages. The 10th edition of the medieval culture festival Knight Fest. Mstislavl gathered almost 300 representatives of 39 reenactment clubs and also hundreds of spectators.

By tradition, the festival kicked off with a parade of the reenactment clubs in the main square of the town and then moved to Zamkovaya Gora (Castle Hill). This historical place has been recently growing to become “a fortress of the 12th century” as castle walls, towers and a symbolic donjon have been built. An excavation of an ancient settlement is available for observation.

Zamkovaya Gora was the main venue for the reenactment event featuring cavalry battles, buhurts, archery competitions and a medieval defense of the town. Guests were taught authentic dances and enjoyed a fire show, theater performances and folk concerts. They were also invited to taste medieval dishes and beverages.

The festival was organized by the Mstislavl District Executive Committee, the Mstislavl District centralized club system in cooperation with the Berserk extreme theater.
