428 initiative groups registered ahead of parliamentary elections in Belarus

MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ district election commissions have registered 428 initiative groups to collect signatures in support of prospective candidates for the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the six convocation, reads a statement posted on the website of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

A total of 479 applications were filed with district election commissions. 7 July was the deadline for submitting applications to register initiative groups. The district election commissions continue reviewing the applications within five days after the applications were filed.

The majority of applications were filed in Minsk – 106. The smallest number of applications was submitted in Vitebsk Oblast – 48. Among the candidates, whose initiative groups were registered, 274 people are with non-party affiliation and 154 are party members. Of them 39 are representatives of the United Civil Party, 27 - the Belarusian Popular Fund, 23 represent Belarusian left party A Just World, 19 - the Communist Party of Belarus, 16 - the Liberal Democratic Party, 14 - the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), nine - the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, three – the Belarusian Green Party, three – the Belarusian Patriotic Party, and one represents the Belarusian Social and Democratic Hramada Party.
