Domracheva takes Big Crystal Globe at 2014/15 IBU World Cup

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – The best Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva took her 1st Big Crystal Globe at the 2014/15 IBU World Cup, BelTA has learned.

In the final race of the season, women’s mass start, which took place in Russia’s Khanty Mansiysk on 22 March Darya Domracheva finished fourth and claimed the main trophy of the biathlon season.

Three-time Olympic champion cleaned all the targets at the first and second prone and took the lead in the race. The Belarusian was the leader when she came to the first standing. Darya Domracheva had one penalty and fell back to the 3rd position. The Belarusian missed one target at the second prone. The closest rival of Darya Domracheva, Kaisa Makarainen of Finland, finished in the 13th position with five penalties.

Germany's Laura Dahlmeier won the final women’s mass start of the season in 35:02.5 with clean shooting. Silver went to Gabriela Soukalova of the Czech Republic who also cleaned all the targets and finished 7.1 seconds behind the German. Marie Dorin Habert of France finished third with two penalties. Belarus’ Darya Domracheva also had two penalties and finished 28.9 seconds behind the winner.

Another Belarusian biathlete Nadezhda Skardino could not take part in the mass start race.

Domracheva takes Big Crystal Globe at 2014/15 IBU World CupDarya Domracheva finished the 2014/15 IBU World Cup season with 1,092 points. Kaisa Makarainen of Finland scored 1,044 points, Valentina Semerenko of Ukraine had 864 points.

Nadezhda Skardino of Belarus finished the season in the 18th position with 442 points, Nadezhda Pisareva was 41st with 172 points, Anastasia Duborezova was 50th with 122 points, Irina Krivko was 55th with 100 points.

Domracheva takes Big Crystal Globe at 2014/15 IBU World CupMartin Fourcade of France won the men’s trophy in the 2014/15 IBU World Cup with 1,042 points. Russia’s Anton Shipulin was second with 978 points, Jakov Fak of Slovenia finished the season in the third position with 883 points.

Yuri Lyadov showed the best result among Belarusian biathletes – 36th place in the overall standings with 192 points.
