MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian government has set self-isolation rules for those who needs to follow them. The corresponding Council of Ministers’ Resolution No.208 of 8 April 2020 was published on the national legal internet portal on 9 April, BelTA has learned.

Self-isolation rules apply to citizens of Belarus and foreigners who test positive for COVID-19, as well as first- and second-level contacts. First-level contacts need to self-isolate for 14 days following the date of the last contact with the infected, second-level contacts – with the appearance of symptoms (cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, fever). The doctor may decide on prolonging self-isolation time.

The person who needs to self-isolate is required to follow the self-isolation rules. The infected and also first- and second-level contacts get a sick leave for the time of self-isolation. If the person breaks the self-isolation rules, he or she gets 50% of sick pay envisaged by the law.

The self-isolating people cannot leave their homes or attend work and studies, trading and public catering facilities, sport events, exhibitions or concerts, cinemas, railway stations and other places of mass gatherings. Such people are allowed to leave home only in case of emergency, which is to visit the nearest shop or drugstore, and remove household waste. When leaving home, such people need to wear a face mask and do not contact with other people.

These people are also obliged to inform their employer about the reason for their absence from work, not to use services involving contact with other persons, except when such services are necessary for life safety. If health condition deteriorates (increasing temperature up to 37 degrees and above, cough, shortness of breath), they need to call 103 or send a text message providing information about their self-isolating time.

Those violating the self-isolation rules will be fined.

The Healthcare Ministry has been instructed to take measures to implement the resolution within three days.

The document comes into force after its official publication and is valid until further notice.
