Anton Kushnir of Belarus claims gold with a stunning jump

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Belarusian freestyler Anton Kushnir claimed the Olympic champion title in the Men’s Aerials on 17 February, BelTA has learnt.

In the four-man final in the Roza Khutor extreme park the 29-year-old aerial skier produced an incredible back-double-full-full-double-full routine (the highest degree of difficulty) to score an astonishing 134.50 points. Silver went to Australia’s David Morris who landed 24.09 points behind the champion. China’s Jia Zongyang scored 95.06 for bronze.

Anton Kushnir repeated Alla Tsuper’s success who claimed gold in the same discipline among ladies on 14 February.

In 2010 Anton Kushnir won the Big Crystal Globe and was considered one of the 2010 Vancouver favorites. Unfortunately, he crashed out at the qualifying stage then.

Anton Kushnir reached the highest point in his sports career after a complicated surgery on his knee. On Monday night he showed his real killer instinct and did his best at just the right time. During the Olympic competitions the player was supported by his wife Natasha and son Platon.
