Become a partner in a humanitarian project

Humanitarian project in Postavy, Vitebsk region

Project title:  Facilitating social integration and improving the quality of psychological and social counseling services "Warm House"

Implementation period: January 2019-January 2020

Applicant: Postavy Territorial Social Services Center 

Project objectives: Facilitate successful socialization of the target group using innovative means intended to improve the quality of psychological and social counseling services; organize inter-generation interaction and communication between citizens of different ages; promote friendly contacts and positive communication of lonely elderly citizens and children-orphans and children left without parental care.

Project goals:
- To collect information, analyze and systematize the information on the ways of innovative assistance;
- To train personnel involved in the project;
- To improve infrastructure for provision of psychological and social counseling services;
- To share best practices;
- To systematize the results of the project.

Target group:

Families with disabled children, young persons with disabilities (18 to 35), orphaned children and young people left without parental care aged between 18 to 23, single people with disabilities (disability groups 1,2), wheelchair users, elderly citizens and other citizens in difficult life situations.

Brief description:

- to update the target group database, to survey and inform the target group on the project progress;
- to evaluate the best practices of other institutions providing psychological and social counseling rehabilitation services using innovative methods (10 meetings);
- to develop and study programs, methods to provide high-quality services using sensory integration therapy by psychologists, social workers and others involved in the project;
- to provide information and advisory support to the project participants;
- to organize and conduct educational disease-preventive activities “ Health School”; craft skills courses “Handicraft School” and “Art Studio”; computer competence courses; a psychological course "Smart Aging"; confidence building trainings, emotional intelligence training courses “The World of Our Emotions, etc. (twice a week);
- to run training classes “Skill Secrets”, social rehabilitation workshops; a series of meetings “Time Machine” to share useful experience, family traditions and values of the target group (twice a week);
- to organize a volunteer movement, to popularize volunteer assistance "Lessons in Kindness";
- to organize excursions "Social Tourism" (not fewer than 10 excursions);
- to purchase transport vehicles with an electric hydraulic motor to transport people with disabilities;
- to cover the activities of the project in the media and in the internet, to publish materials about the project on the website of the center;
- to produce printed literature, methodological booklets, to set up a library of methodological literature for working with target group;
- to attract public attention to the issues and their role in society.

Sources of funding

  • Donor funding: $50,000 (to buy equipment for a sensory room; to purchase a vehicle with an electric hydraulic power lift; training, conduct of classes and events)
  • Co-financing:  10% of amount
