Humanitarian project in Braslav District
Project Name: Safety Area
 
Implementation period: 2019

Applicant: State institution "Territorial Social Services Center of Braslav District"

Project objectives: Socialization of people with disabilities by helping them to get to social, medical, cultural and leisure facilities.

Project goals: 
• Establishing close cooperation with state-run organizations and NGOs with the view to creating an inclusive space.
• Improving the quality of life of people with disabilities and elderly people by organizing trips to rehabilitation and recreation facilities, sports and cultural events.
• Raising awareness of the needs of people with disabilities, families raising disabled children, elderly people in order to ensure equal opportunities for all.

Target Groups: People with disabilities (disability groups 1, 2), children with disabilities, elderly people over the age of 70

Brief description of the project:

Task 1.

Activity 1.1.
Roundtable session “Inclusive space as a result of joint efforts”.
Activity 1.2.
Session of an initiative group (at least once a month).
Activity 1.3.
Market research of transportation services
Activity 1.4. Project presentation and its implementation.

Task 2.
Activity 2.1. Procurement of the necessary physical infrastructure. 
2.1.1. Purchase of special-purpose vehicles designed to carry people with disabilities.
2.1.2. Registration with the traffic police.
Activity 2.2. Arranging rehabilitation, sports and cultural events:
2.2.1. Day of Health at the Braslav Central District Hospital.
2.2.2. Equal Opportunities sports event at the Drivyatich district gymnastics and sports club.
2.2.3. Mobile Rehabilitation on Wheels, a service for people with disabilities and elderly people living in remote areas (2 times a month).
Activity 2.3.
2.2.4. Excursion to holy places of Belarus.
2.2.5. International Art Festival for People with Disabilities Vitebsk 2019 during the International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk.

Тask 3.

Information sharing.
Activity 3.1. Publishing Safety Area information leaflets.
Activity 3.2. Using the Internet resources of Vitebsk Oblast and other regions to get media coverage for the project.
Activity 3.3. Organizing a roundtable session “Together Towards Equal Opportunities” aimed at sharing best practices.

Sources of financing:

  • Co-financing: 5,400
