Open, transparent elections in Belarus, German observer says

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – The elections in Belarus are going on in a totally transparent and open manner. The opinion was voiced by independent observer from Germany Edmund Lengfelder, BelTA has learned.

“I observed the elections yesterday and today. We’ve been to 15 polling stations and I examined every one of them personally. I talked to international observers and local ones and I can draw the conclusion that everything is going on in a totally transparent and open manner,” he said.

It was not the first time that Edmund Lengfelder had visited Belarus. “Two years ago I observed the presidential election and your country. I visited 25 polling stations and found no violations at any of them. Everything was held in line with the law,” he said. In his words, this year’s elections have been organized even more smoothly. Everything was going more than well.
