23 Sep 2012

Belarus parliament elections valid in most constituencies

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Elections to the fifth-convocation House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus are valid in the majority out of 110 constituencies. The official website of the Central Election Commission of Belarus reads that voter turnout has exceeded 50% at all but 21 polling stations.

More than half of the registered voters have cast their votes in all the 14 constituencies of Vitebsk Oblast and all the 17 constituencies of Minsk Oblast.

Some constituencies are just below the 50% voter turnout. Those are three constituencies in Brest Oblast, 1 in Gomel Oblast, 3 in Grodno Oblast, 1 in Mogilev Oblast, with the voter turnout at 45-49%.

Minsk residents are most relaxed about casting their votes, with the elections recognized valid in 7 out of the 20 constituencies.
