Visa free entry to Israel for Belarusians from late December 2014

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Belarusians will be able to travel visa-free to Israel at the end of December 2014, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Yosef Shagal told reporters on 15 September, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed that Belarus and Israel are expected to sign a visa abolition agreement in Minsk on 19 September. On Belarus’ behalf the document will be signed by Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, on Israel’s behalf – by Minister of Immigrant Absorption and co-chair of the Belarus-Israel commission for trade and economic cooperation Sofa Landver. The visa free regime between Belarus and Israel will come into force in 90 days after the document’s signing.

“I suppose that visas will be abolished on 19 December, plus minus one or two days. It means that the Belarusians will be able to travel to Israel without visas on Christmas,” Yosef Shagal said.

The agreement envisages that the Belarusians will be able to travel to Israel and the Israeli people will be able to travel to Belarus visa-free and stay there for up to 180 during a year.

The Ambassador also said that the changes will apply only to the owners of civil passports, not to the owners of diplomatic and service passports.
