MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ state secretary-deputy defense minister for military policy Colonel Oleg Voinov met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia Evelyn Farkas, BelTA learned from the press service of the Defense Ministry of Belarus.

The meeting was held at the National Agency for Verification and Inspection (Department of the Defense Minsitry). "The parties discussed bilateral military cooperation and also the interaction within the framework of the NATO Partnership for Peace program. The two sides exchanged views on current issues in the field of arms control and regional security,” the Belarusian Defense Minsitry informed.

On 9 September Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Guryanov met with an inter-agency delegation consisting of representatives of the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of Defense and Department of State. The parties discussed the possibilities of normalization and expansion of relations between Belarus and the United States in certain areas of cooperation, exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, discussed the issues on which the parties disagree, voiced their fundamental positions and agreed to continue the dialogue to ensure the further normalization of Belarusian-American relations.
