MOSCOW, 14 January (BelTA) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will hold web-based parliamentary hearings on 19-20 January, BelTA learned from the PA press service.

The MPs are set to outline the topics for the first model laws of the Union State. "We are going to discuss the methodology of drawing up and adopting model legislation by the Parliamentary Assembly, to define priority areas of model legislative regulation, to devise a model legislative plan for 2021 and for the medium term," the press service noted.

Members of the Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, ministries and departments of Belarus and Russia, international organizations, officials of the frontier regions, leading lawyers and legal experts have been invited to participate in the event.

“Parliamentary hearings are conducted in accordance with the Parliamentary Assembly regulations,” the press service said. “Hearings bring together members of the Parliamentary Assembly and invited guests to discuss bills, draft concepts, raft budget of the Union State and other important matters of the Union State project. As a result of parliamentary hearings, MPs issue recommendations which can be published in the official editions of the Parliamentary Assembly and other media outlets.”
