Prime minister of Afghanistan arrives in Belarus on visit

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah has arrived in Belarus on a visit that will last through 17 August, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Tajikistan with concurrent accreditation to Afghanistan Oleg Ivanov, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Afghanistan to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus Abdul Qayum Kuchi welcomed the head of the executive power of Afghanistan in the Minsk National Airport.

In Belarus Abdullah Abdullah is expected to negotiate with Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov. International documents will be signed as a result. The prime minister of Afghanistan will also visit a number of Belarusian companies such as MTZ, MAZ, Amkodor, and BelOMO. Abdullah Abdullah is also expected to get familiar with the operation of the agricultural company Agrokombinat Dzerzhinskiy.

The day before Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Afghanistan Abdul Qayum Kuchi to accept copies of his credentials. The sides discussed prospects of stepping up the bilateral cooperation in a large number of areas as well as the exchange of visits at various levels. Close attention was paid to the advancement of Belarusian-Afghan relations in politics, trade, and economy.
