CHISINAU, 24 September (BelTA) – The meeting between President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti is held in Chisinau, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko arrived in Moldova on a two-day visit. The Belarusian President was welcomed by his Moldovan counterpart near the official residence of the latter. Following the local tradition, the presidents were offered a glass of wine, then Alexander Lukashenko was given bread and salt. After accepting a report from the head of the Guard of Honor, the Belarusian President welcomed the military and introduced members of the Belarusian delegation to his Moldovan colleague. After the official ceremony to greet the Belarusian President, the two leaders headed for the one-on-one talks.

The previous visit of the Belarusian leader to Moldova took place in September 1995. In June 2000 President of Moldova Petru Lucinschi paid a visit to Belarus.
