PRC vice president to visit Belarus in late May

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) - Vice President of the People's Republic of China Wang Qishan will make an official visit to Belarus at the end of May this year, Chinese Ambassador Cui Qiming told the media after the meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

“The visit is scheduled for around the end of May. Vice President of the People's Republic of China Wang Qishan will travel to Belarus on the official friendly visit at the invitation of Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov. It is very important. This will be his first official foreign trip after the election to the post of PRC vice president,” the diplomat said.

Wang Qishan. Photo by Xinhua - BelTACui Qiming stressed that the choice of Belarus as a country of the first official visit attests to the attention the PRC leadership pays to the development and deepening of bilateral relations.

“Before the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Qingdao and the visit of the Belarusian president to China, the upcoming visit of the PRC vice president is very important. The focus will be on the achievements and results of our cooperation, the ways of strengthening it,” the ambassador noted.

The importance of further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership was emphasized during the meeting with the Belarusian president, Cui Qiming said. “We discussed the areas of further interaction and important concrete measures. I conveyed heartfelt, warm greetings from the PRC president to Alexander Lukashenko. The Belarusian president also sent his warm greetings to Xi Jinping,” the diplomat.

“We highly estimated the results and successes of the development of our relations in all areas and noted the high level of visits, political mutual trust, in the business, humanitarian and other avenues of cooperation. Mutual support on matters relating to fundamental interests of our states is very important. We also paid great attention to the further development of the Great Stone industrial park,” Cui Qiming noted.

He added that the meeting also touched on the topic of aligning the two countries' development strategies. “We expressed confidence that there is a huge potential for further cooperation between Belarus and China. We have confidence that our relations will continue to develop steadily,” the diplomat said.
