PM awards distinguished Belarusians

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – On instructions from the head of state, Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich has presented state awards to distinguished Belarusians on 18 July, BelTA has learnt.

The list of awardees features over 100 people representing the manufacturing industry, transport, construction industry, agriculture, healthcare, science, education, sport and culture. They were awarded for many years of fruitful work, exemplary service, and extraordinary dedication.

Mikhail Myasnikovich praised the contribution of the awardees to the social and economic development of the country. “It is noteworthy that in attendance today are people representing virtually all walks of life, all kinds of professions, and it has already become a good tradition,” the Premier said. This means that hard work, initiative and dedication are appreciated and rewarded regardless of a person’s occupation and standing. High awards are bestowed on people who made the biggest contribution to the economic and social development of the country. These people are a kind of benchmark for their co-workers, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

“Large-scale modernization underway in our country certainly requires enterprise and creativity from each and every, be it a company chief or an ordinary worker,” the Premier said. Serious efforts are needed to optimize production, reduce material- and energy intensity of production. This will allow enhancing product competitiveness, rewarding achievements and balancing and streamlining the economic structure.

Addressing the scientists, the literati, school and university teachers, the Premier praised their significant contribution to the development of the intellectual potential of the Belarusian nation.

People working in the social field are responsible for preparing the younger generation to an adult life, Mikhail Myasnikovich said. “We need to do our utmost to make sure our children will become worthy citizens, real patriots, law-abiding people who love and respect our country and its traditions, people who look ahead in the future and contribute to the country’s development” the Premier said.

Among the awardees are representative of one of the most humane professions – healthcare workers. “You, dear healthcare professionals, know the value of a human life. Thank you for standing sentinel to the health of fellow Belarusians,” the Premier said.

Addressing cultural workers, Mikhail Myasnikovich emphasized: “It is great that our artists are warmly welcomed in many cities of the world. This truly means that we are an intellectual nation, a nation with a soul. Your contribution to the Belarusian art and esthetic upbringing of our citizens is huge and deserves utmost respect”.

The awardees include representatives of law enforcement. The Premier thanked them for exemplary service and dedication.

“I would like to reiterate that you embody a truly hardworking and stable Belarus and are a living confirmation that hard work can guarantee the prosperity of our Fatherland and it is a source of happiness and well-being of each person. Many thanks for your work, professionalism and initiatives,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said. He wished the attendees good health and new successes.
