Parliamentary elections will be held in September 2012, Yermoshina says

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) - Elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus will be held in September 2012, chairperson of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina told reporters.

“The term of Parliament expires on 25 October. Therefore, the elections are to take place no later than 25 September. It is planned that the campaign will begin in June and end in September,” said the CEC Chairperson.

Lidia Yermoshina stated that next year will be very difficult for the Central Election Commission. “The election campaign to Parliament is most complex. It is more intensive than the presidential campaign,” she said.

According to her, integrity of the electoral commissions is the guarantee of air elections. “I believe in their potential. I have no reason to doubt them,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
