MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) - By the end of the week, the MPs will sum up the proposals from business unions and agencies concerned on measures to mitigate the negative impact of coronavirus on the export industries of Belarus and will send them to the Council of Ministers, Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Savinykh, told the media, BelTA has learned.

“We will be analyzing the impact of the coronavirus epidemic today. We are receiving proposals from ministries, departments and, most importantly, from the unions of entrepreneurs. We will sum up this information by the end of the week and send it over to the Council of Ministers for it it to take action," Andrei Savinykh said.

Speaking about which industries have been worst hit by coronavirus, the MP noted that, first of all, it is the tourism sector. “Air traffic, passenger rail service, hotel and restaurant sectors have been affected too. We see the ongoing pressure on the entertainment sector now. We view the proposals from business as the primary ones. People who are dealing with difficulties in practice understand better than anyone else what can be done to ease the situation. Yet, the government's capabilities are not unlimited, so we will have to look for a reasonable and balanced compromise here,” Andrei Savinykh noted.

Andrei Savinykh emphasized that the business is submitting proposals for a way out of the situation. It does not ask for money. “Enterprises are asking for deferrals on tax payments, on rent, lower credit costs. These are the proposals that we have received from so many sources. There are more proposals but we need to scrutinize them in more detail,” he added.
