MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has helped more than 6,390 Belarusians return to the home country already, the ministry’s press service told BelTA.

In particular, 48 Belarusians returned from Poland on 7 April by bus. The Belarusian embassy in Poland helped organize the return trip. A citizen of Belarus left Algeria with assistance of Russia. The Belarusian embassy in Russia is working together with Russian colleagues to organize her transit to the home country.

The Belarusian embassies in Serbia and Hungary worked with local government agencies to organize transportation from Serbia and the flight back to Belarus for 14 Belarusians. The Belarusian air carrier Belavia flew them from Budapest to Minsk.

“The situation is still complicated in remote countries, in particular, India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. All the government agencies concerned continue working to find an optimal way to assist Belarusians in these countries,” the source noted. “Interaction is in progress with Kazakh colleagues for the sake of evacuating citizens of the two countries from Southeast Asia.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also pointed out that Latvia had extended the state of emergency till 12 May. Japan declared the state of emergency in the cities of Tokyo and Osaka as well as the prefectures of Kanagawa, Saitama, Hyogo, Chiba, and Fukuoka (without introducing quarantine measures in cities).
