OSCE Secretary General plans to visit Belarus in H1 2018

ASHGABAT, 29 November (BelTA) – I am planning to visit Belarus in the first half of next year, OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger told BelTA on the sidelines of the 28th session of the International Energy Charter Conference in Ashgabat on 28-29 November.

Thomas Greminger commended the interaction with Belarus. He, in particular, noted: “I would like to thank the leadership of Belarus for its contribution to the OSCE activities and for everything that the country is doing to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, including hosting the trilateral contact group.”

Thomas Greminger is attending, in the capacity of a guest, the session of the International Energy Charter Conference, which is discussing the mobilization of investments for sustainable energy future and the diversification of supply routes.

He emphasized the importance of these themes taking into account the current threats and challenges and also praised Turkmenistan’s presidency in the Energy Charter. “The major issue on the session’s agenda is the ways to ensure the sustainable energy future. Participants are discussing how to mobilize investments for the sustainable energy future and diversify transport routes. I believe that the sustainable energy future is a feasible goal if we work together and intensify our efforts for its achievement,” the OSCE Secretary General said.

“The OSCE is ready to make its contribution to this joint work,” Thomas Greminger said.
