MPs of Belarus, Latvia discuss prospects of economic relations in Minsk

MPs of Belarus, Latvia discuss prospects of economic relations in MinskMINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarusian and Latvian MPs are talking about prospects of trade and economic relations in Belarus’ Council of the Republic on 3 October, BelTA has learned.

Deputy Speaker of the Council of the Republic Marianna Shchetkina pointed out that Belarus-Latvia relations, including those in the inter-parliamentary dimension, are entering a new level. The two countries are implementing over 50 agreements and treaties. Bilateral trade has been growing. However, she underlined, there is a lot of work to do in this field. Scientific cooperation is also viewed as promising. “When there is trust and mutual understanding between nations, economy is developing, too,” Marianna Shchetkina remarked.

MPs of Belarus, Latvia discuss prospects of economic relations in MinskDeputy Speaker of Latvia’s Saeima Gundars Daudze agreed that Belarus-Latvia relations had entered a new stage. The active exchange of visits between Belarusian and Latvian MPs proves this, he said. According to Gundars Daudze, the two countries should be using the accumulated political experience in economic cooperation more. “These are truly mutually beneficial relations. They will benefit both nations anyway,” he noted.
