Minsk, Kharkov to sign cooperation agreement in November

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – A delegation of Kharkov is set to visit Minsk in November to sign a cooperation agreement, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk City Hall.

Five cooperation agreements have been signed between Minsk and Ukrainian regions by now. Among them are an agreement on establishing friendly ties and cooperation with Odessa (1996), a cooperation agreement with Kiev Oblast (1996), a cooperation agreement with Kiev (1997), an agreement on establishing friendly ties and cooperation between the administration of Pervomaisky District of Minsk and the Obolon District Administration of Kiev (2016), an agreement between the Sovetsky District of Minsk and the Podolsk District Administration of Kiev (2017).

A delegation of the Kiev City State Administration was on a visit to Minsk on 21-22 April 2016 to study best practices of the local housing and utilities services. In 2019 the Belarusian capital will welcome representatives of the business community of Vinnitsa Oblast. A visit of a Minsk delegation to Kiev is also being considered.

Over eight months 2018, the trade between Minsk-based companies and Ukraine stood at $2.7 billion, up 10.2% over the same period in 2017. Belarus’ export was estimated at $2.1 billion, up 6.7%. In July-September, economic operators of the capital city signed 51 contracts with Ukrainian companies to the tune of $18.3 million. Another 20 contracts estimated at $3.1 million are to be signed in October-November. In 2017, Ukraine was the third biggest importer of goods produced by Minsk-based companies of all forms of ownership. Its share stood at 20.9%.

A Minsk delegation led by Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets will take part in the 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine in Gomel on 25-26 October. The delegation includes representatives of the main department for consumer market at the Minsk City Hall, Minskvneshtorginvest, Belkommunmash, Minskkhlebprom. On Lenin Square of Gomel visitors will be able to see products by Amkodor, MTZ, MAZ, Belkommunmash, Machine-Building Alliance, Minsk Motor Plant, Keramin, Yeast Factory, Mobile Telesystems.
