Ministerial consultations promote Belarus-France cooperation

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Ministerial consultations promote cooperation between Belarus and France, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Yelena Kupchina said at the Belarusian-French ministerial consultations in Minsk on 30 October, BelTA has learned.

“I am glad to greet the French delegation at our regular round of bilateral consultations. I think this meeting will become a serious step in intensifying the Belarusian-French cooperation and the bilateral relations in general,” the deputy minister noted.

Yelena Kupchina also stressed the importance of the individual loan agreement that was signed between the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus and the Paris office of Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft in Paris on 29 October. The document envisages an opening of a €9.86 million credit line for the Development Bank with an insurance coverage of the French credit insurer COFACE. The loan will be used to finance the acquisition of the tunnel-boring machine.

According to Yelena Kupchina, the signing of the document is a good background for today’s consultations. Attending the meeting is Director of the Department for Continental Europe of the French Foreign Ministry Eric Fournier.

The parties are considering a wide range of issues related to the bilateral political, trade, economic and cultural cooperation, Belarus’ cooperation with the European Union as well as sharing opinions on the issues of current international agenda.
