Mexican parliament sets up Friendship Group with Belarus

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – The Parliament of Mexico hosted a solemn ceremony of signing a document on the institution of the Mexico-Belarus Friendship Group on 11 February. Attending the event was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Cuba Vladimir Astapenko, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

While in Mexico, Vladimir Astapenko has met with Chairman of the Mexican Parliament’s Foreign Policy Commission Eloy Cantu Segovia and Director General for Europe of the Foreign Ministry of Mexico Alejandro Negrin.

The Belarusian diplomat is also expected to meet with governors of several Mexican states, the authorities of the Mexican Labor Party, a representative of which, MP Magdalena del Socorro Nunez Monreal, has headed the parliamentary friendship group with Belarus.
