Makei to visit Southeast Asia 23-29 March

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei will pay official visits to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia on 23-29 March, spokesperson for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing, BelTA learned.

While in Vietnam, Vladimir Makei will meet with President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang and hold talks with Vice Premier – Foreign Minister of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh. “The parties will discuss the status and prospects of political, trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

In Laos the Foreign Minister of Belarus will meet with Vice Premier – Foreign Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith to discuss the implementation of the agreements which were reached during the official visit of President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone to Belarus.

While in Cambodia, Vladimir Maket will hold talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen, King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni and a meeting with Vice Premier – Minister for Foreign Affairs and International cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hor Namhong. “There are plans to discuss a wide range of issues of the bilateral agenda with the emphasis on the prospects of further development of trade and economic cooperation,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

Vladimir Makei will also take part in the inauguration of the first assembly plant for Belarusian tractors in Cambodia. A number of international bilateral documents will be signed during the visits.
