Makei says Belarus committed to agreements with Bolivia

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – Belarus will stay committed to all the agreements with Bolivia made at the highest level, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei said as he met with the Bolivian delegation led by Minister of Presidency of the Plurinational State of Bolivia Juan Ramon Quintana Taborga on 22 November, BelTA has learnt.

Greeting the Bolivian delegation, the Belarusian Foreign Minister stressed: “I am happy that we have been taking active efforts to implement the decisions made by the Presidents of Belarus and Bolivia in Minsk in September.”

According to Vladimir Makei, the first meeting of the joint Belarusian-Bolivian commission for trade and economic cooperation which is underway in the Belarusian capital on 21-22 November is an important and milestone event in the development of mutually beneficial relations between Belarus and Bolivia. The meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and his Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales in autumn 2013 was a significant one in the history of bilateral relations. “The Presidents defined the course the two countries will follow in developing bilateral cooperation,” Vladimir Makei said. In his words, Belarus is determined to keep the focus on all-round expansion of Belarusian-Bolivian ties.

According to the minister, bilateral trade is not high at present, but there is every chance to increase it. “We are still at the very beginning of our trade and economic relations. We should use to the maximum our potential here in order to take it to a new level,” the minister stressed.

Vladimir Makei believes that the first meeting of the joint commission is of high importance in this respect as the parties are expected to outline concrete cooperation areas.

The Foreign Minister stressed that Belarus is an obliging partner and is determined to fulfill all the agreements made by the commission fully and in time.

“I am confident that the visit of the Bolivian delegation and the first meeting of the joint Belarusian-Bolivian commission for trade and economic cooperation will add an additional impetus to cooperation ties and be a solid base for further strengthening and expansion of all-round relations,” Vladimir Makei noted.
