Lukashenko’s official visit to Armenia over

YEREVAN, 15 May (BelTA) – The official visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Armenia is over. On 14 May the plane with the Belarusian head of state aboard left the international airport Zvartnots, BelTA has learned.

On 13 May Alexander Lukashenko held talks with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan. At the negotiations the presidents discussed bilateral relations and agreed to promote cooperation in various industries. The heads of state drew special attention to the prospects of developing economic ties and expanding bilateral trade, discussed joint industrial and infrastructure projects, investments and application of modern technologies.

As part of the visit the sides signed a package of bilateral documents on cooperation in nuclear safety, agriculture, sport, the humanitarian sector. Apart from that, the parties signed an intergovernmental agreement on sharing information and cooperation in nuclear safety and radiation protection.

Moreover, the National Olympic Committees of Belarus and Armenia signed an agreement on cooperation.

On 14 May the Belarusian head of state visited the Armenian nuclear power plant. He said that Belarus is interested in Armenia’s experience in nuclear energy and the operation of nuclear power plants.

Alexander Lukashenko also attended the opening of St. Hovhannes Church in the town of Abovyan.
