Lukashenko: We cannot let our country be torn apart

Lukashenko: We cannot let our country be torn apart

DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 21 August (BelTA) – The situation in the country is politicized, but it should not be viewed as catastrophic, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he visited Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky on 21 August, BelTA has learned.

“You are the working folk, you know that money is earned this way [by hard work]. Sometimes it can be earned in the streets, but only for a while,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “Well, some have earned a bit. But please, do not tear the country apart. We cannot let this happen because we know what how much effort it has taken to build it,” he added.

According to the head of state, the situation in the country is greatly politicized but should not be viewed as catastrophic. He said that one of the workers of the enterprise walked up to him, said that she supports him and wished him to “stand ground”. However, the president believes that the situation is not that difficult.

“There are still some unsatisfied people in Minsk. This is understandable. But you should not worry about this, it is my problem, I should be solving it, and we are working on it. Trust me, we will succeed in no time,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He noted that ahead of the visit to the enterprise he had met with top officers of the law enforcement agencies to discuss ways to preserve order in the country and respond to external threats. “They are on duty every day from dawn to dusk to preserve peace and security. I have got the feeling that these guys do not intend to let their country be taken away from them,” the president observed.
