Lukashenko seeks closer interstate contacts with Ecuador

MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – The work of the Ecuadorian diplomatic mission in Belarus will help considerably invigorate the interstate contacts between the two countries, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said as he received credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ecuador to Belarus Carlos Humberto Larrea Davila, BelTA has learned.

“Now we are opening a new page in relations with friendly Ecuador. It is the first time in the history of the bilateral relations that the ambassador of this country has presented the credentials,” the President emphasized.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Ambassador of Ecuador to Belarus Carlos Humberto Larrea Davila“I am convinced that the activities of the ambassador will help considerably boost the interstate cooperation in implementing joint projects outlined during the visit of the President of Ecuador to Minsk in 2013,” Alexander Lukashenko noted. Speaking with the Ecuadorian ambassador, Alexander Lukashenko noted: “I think that the President of Ecuador and I will meet next year”. Carlos Humberto Larrea Davila gave Alexander Lukashenko best regards from the Ecuadorian President and expressed hope that the bilateral ties will get even stronger.

During the ceremony on 12 December, the Belarusian President received credentials from representatives of ten states, including Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Egypt, the Congo, Mozambique, Pakistan, Portugal, Syria, Ecuador and Estonia.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus is ready to create the conditions conducive to efficient work of diplomatic missions. “You can see what is going on in our country, how people live here and what they aspire to. We suggest engaging in an open dialogue across all kinds of issues and finding mutually beneficial solutions,” Alexander Lukashenko noted. The head of state said that he hopes for a pro-active stance, determination and an unbiased approach of the diplomats. Their professionalism and commitment will help expand cooperation between the states and facilitate the implementation of new joint projects, Alexander Lukashenko added.

The head of state wished Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the diplomats.
