Lukashenko pays last respects to President Hugo Chavez
MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) - President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko attended the public ceremony for the late President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chavez at the Military Academy in Caracas on 8 March, BelTA learned.
Before the ceremony a lot of wreaths were brought into the hall. Among them was a wreath on behalf of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian head of state.
The ceremony was attended by foreign dignitaries from more than thirty countries. The President of Belarus had a place of honor in the front row among the closest relatives and friends of Hugo Chavez and Venezuelan top-ranking officials.
Alexander Lukashenko was the first President of a non-Latin American state to pay last respects to the late President Hugo Chavez.
