Lukashenko outlines major agreements after talks with Sudan president

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) - After the talks with Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told reporters about four major agreements with the Sudanese side, BelTA informs.

“By the time of my next visit to Khartoum the Sudanese side should implement the majority of our agreements,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “First, we should set up a machine building center in Sudan, the first sets of our equipment should be delivered there for assembly.” Second, the sides are eager to build an agricultural complex for the production of milk in Sudan. Third, plans have been made to build greenhouses for growing vegetables and sprouts using Belarusian technologies. “Fourth, Belarusian companies should begin to mine gold on the territory of Sudan jointly with Sudanese specialists to facilitate mutual payments between our countries,” the president said.

The head of state instructed Belarusian ministers to start implementing these agreements as soon as possible. “Make arrangements when your colleagues are here. Logistics is very comfortable, ports in Khartoum are open for you. Export equipment to Sudan, begin to install it, agree on mutual payments. These projects cannot be postponed till 2020. We should implement them in the near future,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president of Sudan, in turn, stressed that the sides signed important agreements on the development of relations. The Sudanese leader remarked that these documents create a good future for the further cooperation across the board. He promised to keep an eye on the implementation of the agreements.

Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir also said that the sides have similar opinions about many political and economic issues. He thanked the Belarusian side for a warm welcome and hospitality.
