MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – The current political system in Belarus will not be radically remodeled. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during the fifth Belarusian People’s Congress on 22 June, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, the most important conditions for the social and economic development of the country include political stability, tranquility in the society, inviolable borders and people’s security. “It is what our domestic and foreign policies are supposed to achieve,” noted Alexander Lukashenko.
The President underlined: “There will be no breakdown of the current political system. I’ve stated repeatedly that the nation used up its limit of revolutions and catastrophes last century. Now Belarusians want to leave in peace and prosperity, creating instead of destroying their wellbeing and the wellbeing of their young and sovereign state.”
“If someone hopes to shake our stability in the period of such an important political campaign like parliamentary elections, they’d better put aside these attempts,” noted Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the President, a lot of emphasis is laid in Belarus on what the new parliamentary corps will be, who the nation will trust. “I have no doubt that Belarusians will elect their worthiest representatives,” he said.
