MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has been named the most popular foreign politician according to the survey conducted by the Ukrainian analytical center New Europe, BelTA has learned.
The survey looked into the expectations of Ukrainians regarding certain aspects of foreign policy of the future president of Ukraine. When asked about a foreign leader whose decision-making style and political behavior the future president of Ukraine should emulate, 13.44% of respondents named Alexander Lukashenko. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was second with 9.83% of the votes. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite placed third with 4.71%. Among the most popular politicians were also the presidents of Poland, the United States, Russia, France, Turkey, the prime ministers of Canada and Israel.
The poll comprised four waves of face-to-face interviews. Each of them polled not fewer than 2,000 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and older. Sociological sampling corresponds to the distribution of adult population of Ukraine by age, sex, region and type of settlement. Margin of sampling error does not exceed 2.2%.
