MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko talked to Ukraine ex-president Leonid Kuchma over the phone, the press service of the Belarusian head of state told BelTA.
Leonid Kuchma informed Alexander Lukashenko about results of the work of the Russia-Ukraine-OSCE contact group to settle the situation in Ukraine and thanked the Belarus president for the opportunity to work in Minsk so productively.
“Leonid Kuchma remarked that the very environment in Minsk had contributed to the success of the negotiation process however hard it may have been. In his words, they could not but come to terms because the Belarusian land itself encourages peace and accord,” the press service said.
